Grenada JAN 2019 - 4th from 74 boats
We had a great year fishing on our 42 Bertram, it was a year we were chartered for three Billfish tournaments. We started with Grenada for the 50th anniversary Spice Isle Billfish Tournament which attracted 74 boats from around the Caribbean and included some of the best captains and anglers in the business, Marlin Mag sent a representative to record this historic event.
Reel Crazy Too finished in a respectful 4th place as well as winning Best Lady Angler and best overall Angler. We were also the top boat from Barbados and 2nd best performing Bertram. We were very pleased with our performance, we had a great crew and guests and despite having one engine down we still performed well. A tournament to remember for us and our guests Jonathan and Diana
Barbados April 2019 - 5th from 28 Boats
We fished this tournament a little different as these are home waters and we know very well, we decided to concentrate on Blue Marlin and it paid off, We had our first strike fairly early on the first day but as luck will have it, the blue eventually came unstuck. The 2nd day saw us hooking up a blue marlin with Diana on the rod, she was brilliant, she managed to get the blue under control and boat side in about 40 minutes and it weighed around 200 pounds .
We finished a good 5th with our 1 blue, the winners Voodoo had 2 Blues
Barbados Oct 2019 - 3rd from 14 boats
The Brian manning Memorial sponsored by Blue Waters. This is my favorite event as it comes out oy my home port and we target the grounds that we fish everyday, we won this event in 2017 and I was determined to have a podium finish again here, we managed 4 sails but the blues slipped away from us, we had 2 chances at blues but they weren't interested in what we had. But we did get a bonus Mahi Mahi weighing 36.2 pounds which was fought by Diana.
We found ourselves battling on the final day with Voodoo once again(2nd) and Never Enough (1st), we finally settled for 3rd in a close finish... We look forward to next years events with anticipation.
We hope to see more emphasis on preserving Billfish in our waters in the coming years...
